Beauty Blender- Worth the hype?
I was very kindly sent a beauty blender* by the lovely people at Beauty Flash and was thrilled to finally get to put the infamous sponge to the test.
I started by soaking it in cold water then squeezing the excess out 3-5 times, once it was damp I first used it to apply my concealer, I usually find with sponges it leaves a textured look in your make-up but because you apply this with a wet sponge the problem is avoided all together. To set the concealer I then went in with a setting powder and decided to try this with a wet sponge also, which I was nervous about. I dipped it in the powder then applied it to my face and found it looked amazing and a lot less cakey than when applied with a dry sponge. It gave the effect of using a setting spray without actually using a setting spray.
On the beauty front I was really pleased but as with all sponges, I was worried about the hygiene. With most of my sponges I throw them away after a week of use, but with this sponge coming at £16 a pop, you can't really afford to do it with this product. So, after religiously washing it with the solid cleanser after every use I kept an eye out for any problem areas on my face for a month- and there were none!
This product leaves an airbrushed finished and is surprisingly hygienic. Buy for £16 here and the solid cleanser for £14 here.
(Also, how cute is the colour?)

It's a godsend!
Deletedefinitely need to try this. i've seen so many people swear by it! i like how you talked about the hygiene factor though. good to know!
ReplyDeletelove, rach.
So, hi.
I am now one of those people, and thanks!
DeleteI have been ignoring buying The Original Beauty Blender for a long time. I just can't come around the fact that I would have to spend too much on this little dude. It maybe wonderful but no! I won't purchase it. I'm going to invest in a good afford-ably priced kabuki brush.
ReplyDeleteChaste & Beautiful
I agree, it's super expensive and it's hard to invest in a tool until you've seen the results for yourself!
DeleteI have one Ihave loved (literally) to pieces and now have some chapter dupes waiting to be put to the test. Let´s see...

report back!
DeleteTOTALLY worth the hype. I've used a bunch of different sponges from random drugstore ones to Real Techniques and none of them quite compare to the original beauty blender!
ReplyDeleteI bought one but never really used it... I prefer brushes I guess. Thanks for this review Talisa!

I keep hearing that it is worth the hype, but at the same time spending so much money for one little sponge is a little iffy to me. I'm definitely asking it for Christmas though, I really want to see the results for myself!

Great review! I have heard great things about this product, but I normally use powder instead of liquid concealer on my face so I'm not sure if I would use this product very much.

I love using it wet for setting powder. For foundation I find it a bit cumbersome to dab a sponge all over face & neck, I'm lazy that way :P

I've never tried a beauty sponge but I'm so intrigued by them! Love how they make make up look when I see them used in tutorials x
ReplyDeleteJosie | Sick Chick Chic
I love my beauty blender! I have two since I like to have them dry completely before using it the next time (the germaphobe in me is scared of having bacteria breed in there). I only use these for my concealer and to even out foundation - I'm not too big of a fan using them for powders!

ReplyDeletemystylishcorner.blogspot.ba
Personally, I can't justify spending £16 on a sponge so I opt for the Real Technique's Complexion Sponge which does a great job. Nonetheless, I'd still like to try the Beauty Blender as I've heard such great things about it :) Xx

This is such a great review Talisa, I agree with everything you've said about it! The beauty blender gives an amazing finish to the skin. But also when I'm using multiple cream products, it really eliminates any streaks. Making all of the products seamless.

I had such a busy Nov and Dec, well, like everybody else, so I went a bit MIA (like bloggers say :), but would like to wish you a great Christmas time! In January things will be more peaceful, hope we stay connected :) I wore blenders some time, but now was using fingers to spread foundation. But as you said it leaves a perfect finish, I will try it again! Merry Christmas!
