Bio-Oil launches new body confidence campaign

Bio-Oil are working closely with the Body Gossip charity to take a selection of Body Philosophies into schools to inspire body confidence amongst young people. As part of the campaign Bio-Oil will be funding Body Gossip to run a Body Confidence Performance Project in 20 schools nationwide. From 1st June to 31st October you can nominate a school to receive a free Body Confidence Workshop here:
http://www.bodygossip.org/nominate-a-school

I headed straight over to the www.mybodyphilosophy.com site to see what everyone had been talking about, and I have to say, some of the stories got me more teary than watching "Marley and Me" *Sobs quietly*. They really inspired me and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it- bring me to why I wrote this post. Your body is beautiful. People may insult it, but most of the time it's because it's not the "normal" look. Remember when everyone used to mock big brows? Then, BAM Cara Delevigne came on the scene and people started drawing their eyebrows on like there was no tomorrow. And that's just it, body image has become a trend- this year it's killer curves, next year it could be no curves at all. Don't change your image because of what others like, be the person YOU want to be. That's exactly what Bio-Oil are trying to encourage people to do- respect yourself, your body and your skin. Every part of you is beautiful, you are not a trend!

If you're no longer in school I recommend taking a look at the My Body Philosophy site, it's truly inspiring.

  5. Love this post! I love that this company is doing this for younger girls. I wish when I were still a young girl in school battling body image issues that someone would have come along and said, "You're beautiful how you are," and helped me accept myself!

  19. Buzz killer, checking in! I'm never wild about brands that do this kind of advertising. Usually feels like such a con! That being said, I think Bio Oil's doing it as best as it can be done by funding workshops. It's not just all talk!

  20. Dove had a similar campaign (and still has, if I remember correctly). It is such an important topic! I am happy I grew up in a world without instagram and filters, so I got a good grip on what people really look like, but I fear for my daughter, being raised to these "perfect" pictures everywhere.

  33. omg same here! Marley and me made me really emotional and cry because I have a similar story like that :(
I love when brands makes steps like campaign or stuff for improving positivity and make changes. This is also the reason why people should love themselves first before they love or comparing themselves to anybody (especially when media makes "standardized beauty" which is kind of sad) thank you for sharing this<3

  40. Great post. Body confidence is hard to come by. Often we tell people to feel strong in our skins when we don't feel that way on the inside. We need to work on both to be truly happy.
